Questions & answers about teeth whitening

How do Beconfident Teeth Whitening products work?

Beconfident products have a neutral pH and therefore the tooth enamel isn't harmfully affected in any clinically measurable way. The tooth stains are simply lifted away by the treatments and any remaining stains are rendered colourless, whitening the teeth. The fluoride ions within Beconfident whitening products help to re-mineralise the tooth enamel and protect against cavities.

What is the difference between regular teeth whitening products and dual foam teeth whitening?

Traditional teeth whitening kits and mouth trays are used in the treatment. These trays hold the whitening gel in place during the treatment, which takes about 15 minutes. With dual foam teeth whitening, you do not require mouth trays and it works basically like a toothpaste, in the form of a foam that is applied to a regular toothbrush. It should not be confused with conventional toothpaste. The dual foam cleans, prepares and whitens the teeth.

Is it safe to whiten teeth at home?

Yes, teeth whitening at home is safe when used correctly using peroxide free products. Teeth whitening kits and gels containing over 0.1% hydrogen peroxide are now illegal within the EU, although some of these products are still for sale on the internet. These reports prompted further research by The Scientific Committee on Consumer Products (SCCP) into the use of peroxide within teeth whitening and oral care products and from the results came updates and the new EU Directive and UK Regulation. The sale of teeth whitening products within the UK (EU) containing more than 0.1% hydrogen peroxide or any associated products which release more than 0.1% hydrogen peroxide is now illegal.

What is T.E.A?

Triethanolamine (TEA): TEA is used to balance PH and thicken gels. It is a common ingredient in 'gentle' cosmetic products although it has been known to cause allergic reactions. TEA is an eye irritant and can cause dry hair and skin. With consistent use, TEA is absorbed into the body and accumulates, where it can become toxic. Instead of TEA, Beconfident uses Trolamine, a natural compound, which is a gentler and safer alternative that is not known to cause allergic reactions or long term toxic build up.

Whitening Results

How white will my teeth become?

Teeth are unique and will be whitened back to the natural white tooth shade of the individual. People that have heavily stained teeth due to the consumption of dark food, drinks and smoking will see quicker and more noticeable results as the stains are darker. You may be surprised how white your teeth become.

How long will the results last?

Typically, results will last for three to six months or more. In our clinical studies, no person returned to their baseline colour after 18 months. It is difficult to identify how long results will last as it depends on the condition of the enamel, the type of stains, the person's diet and if they smoke. It is important to remember that teeth will become slightly darker each day after whitening, how dark is dependent on a person's diet. Teeth whitening is not a permanent solution and regular treatments are required in order to keep teeth beautifully whitened.

How soon will I start to see results?

Teeth are unique to each individual. The time it takes to notice results will vary from person to person. Some people will see results after their first treatment and others may take a little longer into their treatment before they notice a change. People with heavily stained teeth enamel due to the consumption of dark food, drinks and smoking will tend to see results quicker as it will appear more obvious when their teeth are becoming whitened. Tip: Take Before and After pictures. This enables you to view the results of how white your teeth have become compared to before the Beconfident teeth whitening treatment.

Questions & answers about skincare

About Acne

In general acne is described as a four step process before you actually see what you would refer to as acne, being a whitehead, a blackhead or a red bump.

  • Natural or increased production of oil or sebum.
  • Pores clogged by dead skin cells and oil.
  • Bacterias starting to grow in number inside clogged pores.
  • Natural immune reaction to fight bacteria causes redness and inflammation.

It may be useful to know that there are very many people who suffer from acne in some form. You are not alone on this. 15-20% of all teenagers experience acne graded as moderate to severe. 30% of all teenagers have, at some point of time, acne that requires treatment. Later in life, acne can also occur, but not with equal frequency.

Using the Anti Acne products and the Anti Acne App we will talk about the following types and stages of acne.

  • Whitehead: small white pimples
  • Blackhead: small black pimples
  • Papules: red pimples
  • Pustules: red pimples, yellowish in the middle

Please remember that acne treatment in general is done through different products and methods that reduce the risk of acne outbursts. Acne can lead to scars. These scars can be difficult to do anything about and therefore acne treatment can be seen as a way to prevent the risk of this type of scarring. Even mild acne can lead to scarring and should be treated in the early stages.

It can always be helpful to both listen to how friends deal with their acne and what the experts recommend. We do not recommend that you experiment with products and methods that have not been proven to give positive effects on the problem, and that might cause more problems than what you are experiencing right now.
